INTERNATIONAL NETBALL FEDERATION ANNOUNCES HOST FOR 2027 NETBALL WORLD CUP
The International Netball Federation (INF) has today announced that Netball Australia has been awarded the rights to host the 17th staging of the Netball World Cup.
The primary tournament venue will be the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia’s iconic world city and leading tourism and events destination. The arena is situated in the Sydney Olympic Park renowned for its global reputation as a multi-sport’s major events precinct.
INF President, Liz Nicholl, CBE, said: “On behalf of the Board of the International Netball Federation, I am delighted to announce that Netball Australia will be hosting the 2027 Netball World Cup. Australia put in a strong bid and we are confident they will deliver an excellent event in the city of Sydney, as we have seen Netball Australia do so in the past.”
“As our sport continues to grow and evolve at an unprecedented rate around the globe, we look forward to working with the Organising Committee and Netball Australia on netball’s growth and development whilst delivering a thrilling world-class event that will no doubt inspire all and work towards creating a better world through netball.”
Netball Australia is committed to implementing a significant national and international legacy programme as hosts of the 2027 Netball World Cup. The INF and Netball Australia are in the process of concluding the hosting agreement which sets out the full scope of this programme. It focuses on developing netball in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as working with INF and its Members to create opportunities and grow the game from 2022 to 2027 and beyond. The event will further the growth of women’s elite sport and provide a platform to influence positive change for netballers around the world.

The Netball World Cup is INF’s flagship event held every four years and brings together the world’s top teams for the sport’s most elite tournament. The next edition will be in Cape Town South Africa in 2023. Sydney has won the rights to host the Netball World Cup on two previous occasions in 1991 and 2015. In 2027 Netball Australia will be celebrating its centenary year.
