NSA (Netball South Africa) is the national governing body for the sport of netball in South Africa and administers all aspects of South African netball, and where appropriate on the continent of Africa.

The NSA Board is considering the position of the Proteas Netball Team Manager, a 4-year contract to be reviewed after the 2027 Netball World Cup.

This position is well suited to an individual who is capable of delivering a managerial service and doing performance reports. This candidate must be driven and have the ability to lead the SPAR Protea Team off-court (Players and management) to strive for the very best and has demonstratable experience in leading sporting performance success at the highest level whilst upholding the Organisation’s mission, vision and ethics.

The role will report to the Chief Executive (or her nominee) Director Coaching as well as player reporting to Director Selection. Being in the sport of netball, the role requires extensive travel (both local and international), extended periods away from home and the ability and willingness to work long hours, over weekends and public holidays where necessary. Time in lieu to be negotiated with the Chief Executive (or her nominee).

POSITION: SPAR Protea Netball Team Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Player Management:  Nurture and support players both on and off the court, fostering a positive team culture.

  1. Logistics and Planning: Coordinate all aspects of team logistics, including travel, accommodation, and scheduling.
  2. Communication:  Establish clear lines of communication with players, coaching staff, and organizational stakeholders.
  3. Strong leadership is integral to the success of a team
  4. Be able to work under pressure
  5. The applicant must be a team player and be very diplomatic. The success as a Team Manager depends on your ability to interact with your players and team officials.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in sports management, preferably in netball or a related field.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial management
  • Knowledge of the game and rules interpretation
  • Technologically competent (Excel and Word)
  • Good Time management skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational and logistical abilities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Basic First Aid
  • Knowledge of Anti-doping
  • Transformation
