Reporting to: Tournament Director
Primary Location: Cape Town
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract from 1 November 2021 (or earlier) to 31 October 2023
Gross Package: Market related 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading and managing all financial aspects of the company, including managing strategic financial planning, financial statements and cash flow.

The Head of Finance will support the Tournament Director in setting and tracking financial goals, objectives and budgets, providing management reports and overall financial team management.

An experienced individual with relevant proven skills. Preferential consideration will be given to qualified chartered accountant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collecting, interpreting, reviewing, and presenting financial data.
  • Anticipating and planning of the business’ income streams.
  • Reporting to management and stakeholders.
  • Excellent management and leadership of the Accounting and Human Resources departments.
  • Developing project business plans based on the Company’s finances and financial predictions.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to minimise financial risk.
  • Analysing market trends.
  • Drive the Company’s financial strategy & planning.
  • Proper and prudent management of the Company’s liabilities and investments.
  • Productively supervising all finance personnel.
  • Managing vendor/supplier relationships.
  • Properly preparing, reviewing, monitoring and managing reliable and probable monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting/ budgeting reports.
  • Timeously compiling details and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Compiling and assisting with annual audited financials and reports to same.
  • Set and ensure achievement of desirable performance goals.
  • Establish policies that promote the Company’s culture and vision.
  • Knows and adheres toa all South African generally accepted accounting principles, practices and securities and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).
  • Oversees and reviews accounting tasks, including payroll, taxes, and compliance.
  • Presents financial reports to executives, board members, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the executives and directors to create budgets and track key performance indicators.
  • Meets deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Maintain continued development or professional accounting and tax competence requirements.
  • Awareness and understanding of relevant technical, professional and business developments.
  • Financial statement preparation.
  • Reconciling account balances and bank statements.
  • Maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.
  • Cost accounting, Credit, Risk management.
  • Understands, implements and adheres to the applicable provisions of the corporate good governance principles as published in King IV report.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as Senior Financial Officer/ Manager / Director.
  • Knows how to use accounting software and has advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Understands financial reporting and has strong analytical skills.
  • Communicates effectively and has exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Develops strong working relationships with colleagues across departments and seniority levels.
  • Manages direct reports and leads a growing team.
  • Excels at multi-tasking, organisation, and time management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practice financial policies and risk management practices.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Aptitude for decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting added advantage CA(SA), MBA.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in financial management.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
