In anticipation of the 2020 Telkom Netball League season we reached out to last year’s (2019) best shooter, Lefébre Rademan from the Free State Crinums, to hear how she’s doing and to get to know her a little bit better.

Some background information before we get the questions going.

NSA: Hi Lefébre, tell us, how did it feel when you learned you were the 2019 Telkom Netball League Best Shooter?
LR: It was such an honour. I didn’t expect it and I felt very blessed.

NSA: Apart from winning best shooter, what were your playing or Telkom Netball League tournament highlights?
LR: A highlight for me was definitely beating the Stings when we played them a second time and also how we improved as a team.

NSA: How did your netball story begin?
LR: I started playing netball since Grade 1 and I’ve just love the game ever since. I’ve also played provincially for the Western Cape U/15, U/17 and U/18. In 2015 I started playing at Kovsies and Free State Crinums.

NSA: Any people who’ve played a major role in your career development thus far?
LR: Coach, Burta de Kock, my parents (Gerbrandt & Kokkies Rademan) and Brother (Daniël Rademan) and my High School Coach, Lynette Gerber.

NSA: You also got your national call up in October last year for the Africa Netball Cup. What was it like making your debut and playing with the SPAR Proteas up to now? Any special moments on and off court?
LR: Wow there are so many special moments. I am grateful for every opportunity to play alongside such great and talented players. One was definitely wearing the green and gold dress for the first time and seeing my surname on the back. Every time is still so special.

NSA: When you’re not training or playing netball, what is it you get up to?
LR: Having a good time with my friends and family.

NSA: How have you been keeping busy during this period of isolation?
LR: I have been training, working on my academics, baking and helping where I can at my home. ❤️

NSA: Who thus far has been your toughest opponent(s) and why?
LR: Well playing against the “Karla and Phumza” combination was quite tough because their switches are good and they have a big “wing span”.
