Netball South Africa  has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Project Manager to join our dynamic team to plan the NWC2023 event. This position as per the below criteria is well suited to an individual that understands World Cup events and is familiar with the Organisation’s Mission, Vision and Ethics.

The successful candidate will report directly to Netball South Africa’s (NSA) Chief Executive Officer, until the Board of the INFWC2023 have appointed its CEO. The role will initially be on a fixed term six months contract. Flexible management skills will be required to manage the workload during the duration of the six month period.

Job Purpose
NSA is the Organising Committee for the Netball World Cup 2023. The successful candidate will work on behalf of NSA, in conjunction with the INF Events Project Manager ensuring INFWC2023 events are delivered to the World Class Standards, meeting the needs of the Federation in relation to the strategic development of the sport.

Background
The INF has awarded the Netball World Cup 2023 event to Netball South Africa. The WC2023 Events Project Manager’s role will have strategic and operational components parallel to the World Cup 2023. The successful candidate will play a significant role in the development of NSA’s event strategy planning and delivery.

The INF has issued the hosting country with governing guidelines by which the Netball World Cup should be governed. The successful candidate will ensure that these events are planned in accordance to the governing guidelines against the highest possible standards of delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Working concurrently with the WC2023 Board, and NSA’s CEO to guarantee delivery of
    a credible Events Strategy for NSA.
  • Project management of NSA’s involvement in and overseeing the event planning
    corresponding to:

    • INF Netball World Cup 2023;
    • Establishing high-level Event Delivery Milestone plans, including detailed
      project plans that will accompany key areas of activity.
    • Oversee the event budget, particularly focusing on long term forecasting,
      income generation and risk mitigation.
    • Corroborate with the Host INFWC Board,Organising Committee and INF
      Technical Delegates to develop key strategies for the event including the
      vision and mission, ticketing, sponsorship, brand, broadcast and operational
      delivery.
    • Provide constant support to the Host pertaining to the governancing of the
      event and creating an organisational structure for the management of the Local Organising Committee.
  • Produce regular progress reports to ensure the INFWC2023 Board and Organising Committee are fully informed of the progress made in the planning of the event.
  • Ensure the INF Event & Commercial Operations Manual provides the host Organising Committee with the best possible guidance relating to the delivery of this Event.
  • Create an event manual.

Skills and Experience
Essential:

  • Previous and proven experience in the management and delivery of major international sporting events.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with evidence of relevant techniques and a good understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Experience and attributes of flexible working, comfortable with ongoing changes, the ability to vary work patterns, and prioritising tasks in order to meet the changing needs of the business as and when its required.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication with a natural ability to liaise and communicate with people at all levels having a high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Empathy and experience in working with multi-cultural and multi-geographical settings.
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask.
  • Ability to use initiative, with good problem-solving skills.
  • Advance IT and keyboard skills and knowledge of MS Office 365 applications including.
  • Excel and PowerPoint, and in utilising the internet and web-based event software systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the management and delivery of International Netball Events.

Additional Information
Standard working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m, however flexibility is required in order to ensure core objectives are achieved timeously. International travel may be required. Salary negotiable.
