ENTRY DEADLINE FOR THE 2021 SPAR WOMEN’S VIRTUAL CHALLENGE FAST APPROACHING

Spring is fast approaching, and there is no better way to celebrate the new season than hitting the road with friends, family and neighbours in the 2021 SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge set for 4 September.

This year’s race is just a month away, and time is running to secure a place on the virtual start line, with online entries set to close on 15 August 2021. The theme for the 2021 edition is #LiveLimitless which aptly fits in with the nature of the virtual.

There are no limits to how entrants can approach the race, whether they want to do it competitively to beat their personal best or make it a fun-filled family activity.

The SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge is the most inclusive race allowing people of all shapes and sizes to run or walk at their own pace, from any location.

In addition, the race is geared for COVID-19 times, where the health and safety of South Africans are of primary importance. They can physically distance themselves from other participants as each person can run from any point of their choosing.

The Virtual Challenge has attracted some of the country’s strongest female role models because it promotes a sense of camaraderie among women and promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Among the strong female figures is SPAR Proteas netball captain Bongi Msomi, who has been a friend of the SPAR Women’s Challenge over the years.

By entering this year’s race, women can empower themselves and make a real difference in the lives of young girls. For every entry, a pack of sanitary pads will be donated to help keep a girl in school through the SPAR Petals Project. The Petals Projects advocates for a shame-free education for all young women.

“Every female out there understands more the need for sanitary towels,” said Msomi.

“One entry from you means you will be helping a girl child out there not to miss a day of either school or sport because they can’t afford sanitary towels. Please do enter. More entries, more sanitary towels packs to support those in need.”

Each 2021 SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge participant will receive a virtual race pack that includes an official virtual challenge t-shirt, access to the My Virtual Challenge digital magazine, a face buff, and a medal.

Another strong role model joining the action is renowned actor Mimi Mahlasela, who has been a long-time supporter of the SPAR Women’s Challenge.

Mahlasela echoed Msomi’s sentiments and encouraged other women to join the race as an act of unity and show support to young girls by donating sanitary pads by merely entering.

“People should enter the race because it’s for a good cause your entry fee gives girls who are underprivileged to live a limitless life – as the money goes towards donating sanitary wear for them,” said Mahlasela

“The other reason for me is to join the race for unity as this year’s race is happening across the country, and we all know together we stand tall.”

This year you will again be able to not only create your own race number online, but you can also create your certificate of completion – check out sparvirtualchallenge.co.za and follow the few easy steps.

Entrants residing outside South Africa will unfortunately not receive a virtual challenge pack due to postal restrictions and courier fees. Your entry fee will still contribute to donating a pack of sanitary products for a schoolgirl in need.
