The inaugural Rea Bapala Males Netball Festival will take place from 4-10 December 2022, with matches scheduled from 5-9 December at the Central University of Technology in the Free State. This will be the first time Netball South Africa hosts a provincial males netball competition.
This tournament will host the provincial teams spread across a Senior A (7 teams), Senior B (4 teams) and an U23 (5 teams) section. Lesotho will compete in the Senior A section and the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) in the Senior B section.

Event Director and Netball South Africa Vice President, Mami Diale had the following to say about the tournament: “The Rea Bapala Males Festival is a first of its kind in South African netball, as it brings together the best and future brightest of men’s netball at a provincial level. The festival will see 17 teams giving their all to be crowned as overall provincial and under 23 champions. Men’s netball has become very popular, especially in the past two years. We’ve seen an increase in teams competing at the Males National Championships, Netball South Africa’s regional competition, as well as more clubs entering to compete in the Twizza Netball Club Championships. Our National team also played and won the Men’s International Tournament held in Pretoria last year beating Uganda in the final. The National team also competed in the Americas Netball Championships in September, where they played the best teams of the Caribbean in St Vincent and the Grenadines. We as Netball South Africa are very excited to host this tournament for the first time and look forward to more provinces and teams coming on board in the future.
